A Photo In Rock Sound!!!!

Yes as the title says one of my photos has made its way into Rock Sound , I am buzzing ,it may be only a bit bigger than a stamp but I am super chuffed. Picked up a copy today scanned it in so people can take a glimpse. The photo is a promotional one I took for Decimals a few weeks ago in the happening place which is Weymouth. Decimals decided to take me along with them on their day trip, and in between eating and Decimals playing we decided to go and have a mess about on the coast to see what kind of image we could get. It was, and still is only the second time I have done promo photos, but this was slightly different to the first time. The first time was with Tournaments which was all pre-planned and in a nice warm studio in Newport, not outside in the freezing , but I really enjoyed the spontaneity of just going out and doing. Found some really interesting places, all the corny lights of arcades made for some interesting snaps but the freezing weather and a thin coat wasn’t too useful. We went from 100’s of yellow bulbs to neon lights to a pretty weird bowling alley. Got warned in one place for standing on a chair, health and safety supposedly. But in the end ended up with some interesting images definitely the best ones were the bowling alley ones, underneath are some of the other ones. I must add “YEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH,A PHOTO IN ROCK SOUND, YEEEAAAHHH”.I did get a pretty cool picture of them standing outside this arcade ,the lighting was so perfect the right amount of dark and light, which is definitely my favourite but it wasn’t really appropriate for a promotional shot seeing as you couldn’t see Gethins face at all.

This Is Cardiff

Last night it was This is Cardiff 2 with 6 bands playing Facel Vega, Human Race, Mob Rules, The Keep, Brain Dead and Harbour. I took photos of every band except for Brain Dead as my flash head got broken right at the start of their set, with Harbour I just used the built in flash on my camera.

Lion Of Judah, Trapped Under Ice

Due to unforeseen circumstances I only managed to see Lion Of Judah and Trapped Under Ice but to be fair the both of them were amazing. It was a bit of a mosh-tastic night . Took a few photos I definitely think the Lion Of Judah ones came out the best I especially like the one with a guys fist in the bottom left.

Cold Ones/ Carrion Of Vigrid/ Ironclad/ Jameson

Well it has been a long time since I have posted up on here, but I think I have some good photos to make up for it . There from the Cold Ones, Carrion Of Vigrid, Ironclad and Jameson show a few weeks ago, I think the one of the cold ones is one of my all time favourite photos, the composition just works so well with the dudes cap at the bottom and the Cold Ones singer in full action screaming.

Untitled

Well thursday i was picked up and taken to an undiscolosed location to hang out and take pictures as they laid down the vocals on some new demos they've been working on.

Here he is doing some vocals.

It looks like he was getting pushed too far
or there was something seriously wrong with that chilli

And now there’s the ring and if legend is correct it contains the spirit of punk rock…..or so I’m told

I would also like to add the quote of the day which was " You think you're so big with your parrot!"

The Muscle Club Demos

So I was invited to take photos of The Muscle Club as they were finishing up recording their demo on Sunday in Gethin Pearson's basement studio. Bit of an early start 11:30 yawn I could still taste the toothpaste in my mouth. To say the basement didn’t have the best lighting for photos would be an understatement but I did my best by just using a higher ISO and messing about with the shutter speed. Was a fun day hanging out, I’m not sure how many times I heard Gethin shout " I just made 50,000 pounds" down a phone or how many times I expected Mike to go “ooooooo Betty”.
Here are the photos I took, some are a bit darker than I would have liked but with others I think it adds something to them.I especially like the one which is three photos added together, it was my first attempt at anything like that thought it came out quite well.

Check The Muscle Club out on there myspace at http://www.myspace.com/themuscleclub
